Metro

The closest metro stop near the Westfields Conference Center is the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU stop on the orange line which is 11 miles from the Conference Center. From the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU metro stop, either take a taxi or the Fairfax Connector route 640 or 642 bus (see below).

There is no metro between Dulles airport and the Conference Center.

Metro directions from Reagan Airport (approximately 45 minutes on metro, 30 minutes on connector bus):

1. take the blue line (towards Largo) to Rosslyn. 2. transfer to the orange line and ride to the last stop at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU. 3. exit the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station to your right (south) and locate the Fairfax Connector route 640 or 642 bus line at the South Bus Bay labeled K.

Bus

There are two bus systems in the area. Only the Fairfax Connector provides service to and from the Westfields Conference Center. From the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU metro station, the Fairfax Connector (map) Routes 640 and 642 will take you to Conference Center Drive near the hotel. Please be advised that the Metrobus no longer operates route 12, although it is shown on the map.

Visas

Many attendees from outside the US will require a B-1 Business Visitor Visa to enter the United States. See here for authoritative visa requirements from the US Department of State.

Attendees from the 35 countries in the Visa Waiver Program must still register with the Electronic Systems for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and possess an e-passport. Some with older pre-e-passports have found that it is easier to get a new passport than apply for a regular visa.

Other visa applications typically require an interview, which may take over a month to schedule.

If you require a letter of invitation, please indicate this when registering for ISWC 2009.
